ABOUT THE ST. AMANT BANDS

The St. Amant High School Band Program is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding band programs in the state of Louisiana. Founded in 1978, the St. Amant High School Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Marching Bands distinguished themselves on the local, regional, state, and national stage, and have grown to become the largest non-magnet high school program in Louisiana.

The St. Amant High School Bands have represented the State of Louisiana at numerous conferences and clinics throughout its existence. The Wind Symphony was one of four bands selected in world auditions to perform at the Western International Band Clinic in San Jose, California, received the National High School Band Achievement Award which was given by First Chair of America, represented Louisiana at the Four-States Band Masters Convention in Texarkana, Arkansas, the Ark-La-Tex Band Conference at Louisiana Tech University, the Southern Conductors Conference in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the Loyola Invitational Band Festival in New Orleans. The band has also placed second at the prestigious GNAI, and was awarded most outstanding brass and soloist awards at that festival. In 2006, the St. Amant High School Wind Symphony performed on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Additionally, the band has worked with world-renowned composers and clinicians such as Frank Ticheli , David Maslanka, and David Gillingham. The St. Amant High School Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony have all placed first in their division at the LMEA State Band Festivals many times, and have all received many other prestigious invitations.
