2007 Marching Band

This year's Marching band show is entitled Heroes, Fallen not Forgotten. It is an original composition for marching band by composer Key Poulan, arranger for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. "Heroes" takes a retrospective look at the men and women who have served their country with the greatest sacrifice of all, their lives.

Movement I, "Shades of Shenandoah for Mrs. Bixby," is based on the famous Bixby letter written by president Abraham Lincoln during the civil war to a mother who lost her sons in the battle between the states.

Movement II, "Wars, Politics, and Homeland Tragedies," is a musical journey through the battles in US history and the great leaders who have fallen in their struggle for freedom. In this section we hear vignettes representative of the Civil War, the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, The Vietnam War, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream," the JFK assassination, Operation Desert Storm, the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building, and the tragedies of September 11, 2001.

Movement III, "Let Freedom Ring" is a reminder of the great legacy of the American men and women who have served, and the promise of a world led under the banners of freedom.
